Perth: International Vision Conference
The Symposium of the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision will be held here in 2010 when more than 200 leading opthalmologists and vision scientists from around the world are expected to attend. Perth has beaten off competition from Chongqing in China to secure an international conference on vision science.
“As winners of a scholarship through our annual scholarships and conference development awards program, we’re delighted that Dr De Roach and Ms Chelva have been able to secure this important international symposium for Western Australia,” says the Bureau’s Director of Corporate Services, Christine McLean.
Strong field of bidders
As the joint winners of a $10,000 City of Perth travel scholarship, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital medical physicists Dr John De Roach and Enid Chelva flew to India in August to present Perth’s bid at this year’s international symposium in Hyderabad. Eventually short listed with Chongqing from a strong field of bidders, Perth was the preferred choice of the society’s members in a subsequent online ballot. The Perth Convention Bureau worked closely with Dr De Roach and Ms Chelva to produce the successful bid submission.“As winners of a scholarship through our annual scholarships and conference development awards program, we’re delighted that Dr De Roach and Ms Chelva have been able to secure this important international symposium for Western Australia,” says the Bureau’s Director of Corporate Services, Christine McLean.
